In addition to regular Meetings for Worship, we hold several types of sporadic events; a calendar can be found on page 6 of this month's newsletter and in the Members Area, and more information is available on the noticeboards in the foyer of Friends Meeting House. The list below excludes events in London. Many begin promptly, so please aim to arrive early.
1. Bring-and-Share Lunches (Last Sunday of each month, 12:30 p.m.)
Everyone is welcome to a bring-and-share lunch at Friends Meeting House.
2. Young Friends (Certain Thursdays, 8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Please see the Young Friends page if you're between 18 and approximately 30.
3. Friday with Friends (Certain Fridays, 7:30-9:30 p.m.)
Please see the Friday with Friends page.
4. Quaker Questions (Certain Sundays, 12:20-1:00 p.m.)
Please see the Quaker Questions page if you have a question to discuss, in this currently inactive series.
1. Quaker Week
National Quaker Week is 2-10 October 2010. We are not arranging any special events for Quaker Week at Oxford Meeting this year but you are very welcome to come to our regular Meetings for Worship as per normal, plus an "all-age worship" on the last day:
- Sunday 3 October from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
- Sunday 3 October from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (with crèche and activities for children)
- Tuesday 5 October from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m., followed by breakfast
- Wednesday 6 October from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., followed by a sandwich lunch if you choose to bring one
- Thursday 7 October from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m., followed by breakfast
- Thursday 7 October at 7:30 for 8 p.m., mainly for young adults
- Sunday 10 October from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
- Sunday 10 October from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (this is an "all-age worship", with the children having a planned input for the last twenty minutes or so)
We also plan to have a stall at the Oxford University Freshers' Fair: 6-8 October (students only).
2. Quaker Quest
This is an occasional series, held on several consecutive Mondays from 6:45-9:00 p.m. The last one finished in early Spring 2009. Please see the Quaker Quest page to learn more.
3. friendly eights
We've recently started an exercise known as 'friendly eights', so that you may get to know others in Oxford and Headington Meetings a bit better. Groups of eight people agree to meet together on eight occasions; more information is available here. Two groups have been formed, and a third is in the making. If you'd like to learn more, please contact Mark Ebden. Friends and Attenders of other Meetings who would like to regularly visit the neighbourhood are also welcome.
